New federal tax refund debit cards for taxpayers without bank accounts
E-file, Free File 2011 are now available

Free tax software to help you
take advantage of e-filing season

The IRS starts accepting e-filed returns today. Remember, if you itemize or file some specific forms or claim a couple of special deductions, you'll have to wait until next month to file.

Most folks, however, can start hitting that "send" button now.

To celebrate, I've been giving away tax preparation software this week.

CompleteTax logo_200x100 I've got five access codes to CompleteTax's Premium MVP online tax preparation program left. With a code, you can prepare and e-file for free one 2010 federal and one 2010 state tax return.

The first five readers who e-mail me at wintaxstuff@gmail.com (please put CompleteTax in the subject line) will win one.

Contest housekeeping: You can enter as many times as you want. But so that the tax filing love can be shared, once you win one access code, you're out of the running for another one.

I'll announce the winners' names at the conclusion of each day's contest. Congrats to yesterday's Don't Mess With Taxes Facebook page winners Ray, Chad, Spencer, Grigory, Brian, Travis and Chris.

And just so you know, I'm not receiving anything from CCH and/or CompleteTax except the opportunity to share access to tax filing software.

Thanks for reading and good luck to today's e-mail contestants!
